    Communicating value and affordability

    The Goal

As a mission-driven public university with a high tuition sticker price, communicating affordability is always a priority for student- and family-facing marketing materials. For the 2022 yield cycle, we pivoted to a content marketing approach with an educational goal: give students the tools to navigate their financial aid awards.

  • How to navigate your financial aid award

Market research indicated that many students and families don't feel empowered to navigate their different awards, leading to the assumption that the biggest award must be the best value. Drawing on the success of financial literacy social media accounts, I concepted a financial aid content strategy that would use straightforward language and bright infographics to empower students (and their families) to understand and compare their awards. There was a print anchor piece sent just after the FAFSA deadline along with two complementary videos and an email and blog series, all integrated around the same powerful message: this is where it all adds up.
